Jim is a graphic designer and creative director providing expertise, vision and strategy for brand design and visual communications. He serves as lead designer on client projects including identity programs; print collaterals such as catalogs, sales literature, annual reports, and brochures; promotions; interactive media; packaging and exhibits. He oversees and manages design projects, coordinating the services of other creative professionals and suppliers.
Jim has over 25 years of design experience in a variety of industry sectors including higher education, health care, contract and residential furniture, architecture, high-tech manufacturing, and others. Representative clients include Leland International, Clark Retirement Community, JSJ Corporation, Herman Miller, Steelcase Foundation, InnerSpace Corporation, International Society of Primerus Law Firms, Sassy, Western Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Progressive AE, URS Corporation and many others.
Jim is a member of the advisory team for Design West Michigan, an initiative funded by WIRED West Michigan that is exploring how design services can function as an economic building block for the region. A primary goal of this effort is to validate and brand West Michigan as “Design Centric.”
Throughout his career, Jim has mentored young designers providing internships, job shadow experiences and teaching. Jim served as adjunct faculty for Michigan State University’s graphic design program and as counselor for Design Michigan’s Graphic Design Advisory Program, a statewide program sponsored by Cranbrook Academy of Art. He frequently hosts student groups and participates in portfolio review sessions.
Jim has won numerous local, regional and national design awards. His work has also appeared in Print and Communication Arts.
Jim is a member of the American Institute for Graphic Artists (AIGA). He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Arts from Michigan State University.
